Scuba Diving Gear Rentals in Nanaimo
Renting high-quality, well-maintained gear shouldn’t be a hassle. Whether you're joining a dive charter, exploring one of Nanaimo’s many shore sites, or completing a course, Nanaimo Dive Outfitters has everything you need for a safe and comfortable cold-water dive.
Our rental fleet is in excellent condition and regularly updated with gear from trusted brands like Zeagle, Hollis, BARE, Mobby's, and DUI, and more. If you need a single item or a full package, we’ll help you get set up and dive-ready.
If you’re thinking about buying gear, renting is also a great way to test equipment before committing. Much of our rental inventory is sold and replaced on a rotating basis, so feel free to ask in-store about available used gear.

Dive Gear Rental FAQ
Do I need to book my rental gear in advance?
It’s recommended, especially on weekends or during busy training months. Walk-ins are welcome, but we can’t guarantee sizing or availability without a reservation.
What do I need to bring to rent scuba gear?
A valid Open Water certification card (or higher) for scuba rentals, and a credit card for the rental agreement. Snorkel gear requires no certification.
Can I rent a drysuit if I’m not drysuit certified?
No. For safety, a drysuit certification or proof of prior drysuit experience is required. If you’re not certified, you can take our drysuit course or rent a wetsuit instead.
When do I pick up and return the gear?
Most rentals are picked up the afternoon before your dive and returned by closing time on the day of the dive. Multi-day rentals can be arranged.
Is a tank fill included with my rental?Question
Yes, tanks in rental packages include a full air fill. Nitrox fills are available for an additional fee.
Do you offer Nitrox, Oxygen, and Trimix fills?
Yes. We fill air, Nitrox (up to 40 percent), Oxygen, and Trimix for recreational and technical divers.
Can I rent individual items instead of a full package?
Absolutely. All gear, from masks to regulators to stage bottles, can be rented individually.
Do you have gear for technical divers?
Yes. We rent steel cylinders, stage bottles, sidemount tanks, bailout cylinders, and have technical regulators and accessories available.
What if I’m unsure about sizing?
Come into the shop and our team will help you get fitted properly. We carry a wide range of sizes for both wetsuits and drysuits.
What happens if I damage rental equipment?
Normal wear is expected, but damage caused by misuse will be assessed and charged according to the repair or replacement cost.
Do you offer guided dives if I’m not familiar with the sites?
Yes. Our experienced divemasters can guide you on local shore dives or join you on a charter.
