Equipment Specialist Course FAQ
Do I need to bring my own gear to benefit from this course?
No. You’re welcome to bring your own equipment for evaluation, but the course still provides full value even if you rely entirely on our shop gear and training tools.
Will this course teach me to fully service my regulator?
No. Full regulator servicing requires manufacturer certification. This course teaches inspection, troubleshooting, and simple field repairs only.
Is this course useful for divers who rent their gear?
Absolutely. Even if you rent, knowing how equipment works helps you recognize problems, adjust fit, and avoid issues on trips.
Can I bring older or inherited dive gear to see if it’s still safe?
Yes. Your instructor can help you assess whether older equipment is serviceable or needs professional inspection.
Does this course qualify me to repair other divers’ equipment?
No. You’ll be trained to manage your own gear only. Major or third-party repairs must be done by certified technicians.
Is this a good course to take before buying my first regulator?
Yes. You’ll understand the differences between piston vs diaphragm, balanced vs unbalanced, cold-water ratings, and more.
Will this course help me maintain a rebreather or technical gear?
You’ll learn general principles, but rebreather and technical systems require separate manufacturer-specific training.
